In the southern portion of the Caribbean Sea, just above Venezuela, Aruba benefits by being slightly cooler than some of its northerly Caribbean neighbors. Once economically supported by natural oil resources, this small island (population 100,000 and about 19x6 miles in size) now relies mainly on tourism for its economic viability, a reality that is embraced by it citizens who treat visitors with great hospitality. Shopping: Most products are duty-free, meaning they can be purchased without tax, at places such as Caya G. F. Betico Croes, Aruba’s main shopping drag, loaded with boutiques and vendors.
