About The Big Island
The island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, is two thirds bigger than the size of all the other Hawaiian islands combined and features a multitude of landscapes including hardened lava flows, desert scrub areas, rolling pastures, rain forests and oceanfront cliffs. In addition to surfing on its wonderful beaches, the Big Island even receives enough snowfall to snowboard on Mauna Kea (13,796 feet) and Mauna Loa (13,680 feet). Waipio Valley: Scenic, lush valley where generations of Hawaiians lived is this self-contained environment filled with bountiful land, timber, fresh water and seafood, enough for a prosperous existence for many centuries.
