Now visited by millions of visitors a year, the Hawaiian Island were completely unvisited until a group of Polynesians braved the treacherous Pacific Ocean and arrived in Hawaii on canoes from the Marquesas Islands around the 6th or 7th centuries. These Marquesans lived unbothered until the 11th century when the Tahitians arrived, conquered the inhabitants and took over rule of the islands. Today, these volcanically formed islands are one of the top vacation destinations in the Pacific to experience remote or busy beaches, tropical sea life, big wave surfing, festive luaus, etc.
