About
Australia
Did you know that Australia was once considered a remote and unattractive
land for European settlement and, with exception of native Aboriginals,
was mostly uninhabited? That was until the late 1700's when the British
needed a place to house their growing prison population. By the mid-1800s,
Britain had sent more than 150,000 prisoners to Australia, and it was
these people that many of today's citizens are descendants of. Learn
more about this interesting history at the Australian Museum in Sydney
(detailed below).

Cheap Travel to Australia
Australia is one of the most fascinating places to visit in the southern
hemisphere. Remember, the season's are reversed
from that of Europe and North America so their winter is June through
September, which is also a great time to travel there because hotel
and flight prices are slashed three fold. I especially like to
travel here in late October and early November, right before prices
shoot back up and the weather is warming up. Click

Travel Experiences Sydney,
Australia My favorite experience was visiting the Australian Museum in Sydney
and learning about the British sending their prisoners here in the 1700's.
20% of the prisoners were women, 1/3 were Irish and most were from poor
areas of Britian. It was these ex-cons that eventually became the founding
citizens of this nation. hkaliel#28 El
