Cheap Flights to Paris

Paris, called the "The City of Light" because of its incandescence appearance at night, is bohemian, historic, fashionable, bourgeois, chic and touristy all rolled into one. Paris is commonly coined the "most romantic city" in the world, due partly to its historic avenues, scenic sidewalk cafes and narrow cobblestone walkways overlooked by wrought iron balconies.

Eiffel Tower: Consisting of 7,000 tons of scrap iron, Architect Gustave Eiffel constructed this for temporary use in 1889 for the World Exhibition. Originally scorned by many Parisians and considered an eyesore, citizens grew to love it enough to prevent it for being disassembled. Less crowded in evenings.

Louvre: Built in 13th century, once a royal palace for King Francis I, now a top museum. Large collection of Egyptian, Roman, Greek and Medieval art, including Leonardo Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" of 1503 and the armless sculpture "Venus de Milo". Usually very museum, try to avoid weekends in summers, take advantage of late Thursday hours.

Champs-Elysees: Historic avenue with pastry stores and boutiques (originally designed in the 1660's). Grab a croissant in the morning or a crepe and wine in the afternoon.

Arc de Triomphe: Located at the axis of 12, conjoining boulevards which create a hectic scene. Built to commemorate Napoleon's war victories, including the "Battle of Austerlitz" won against Russia and Austria in which he brilliantly duped them into thinking his army was smaller than it really was. He initially held back many of his forces and then attacked with the full arsenal once the enemy had already committed. Thousands of the retreating enemy troops drowned when a frozen lake split under the weight of troops and weapons.

Notre Dame Cathedral: Take in a mass or just visit this 12th century church with stunning stained glass windows and omnipresent gargoyles looking over you.

Picasso Museum: World's largest collection of his paintings, sketches, sculptures and ceramics.
